A few weeks ago, we held our 2nd annual Creche fair in the parish hall. Many folks set their creches up with great joy for a weekend and shared their stories and customs of the individual creches. One family shared w me the story of how her father built a family creche because they really could not afford to buy one and it has stayed in the family from generation to generation and is treasured so dearly. What a way to start Advent. We have experienced the shortest Advent Season in many years and here it is Christmas. As I get older it like most of us the years go by very quickly and Christmas pops up very quickly. As we celebrate Christmas, we show our gratitude to those we love with cards and gifts, and sweets, we decorate our homes our churches with lights on trees and homes, candles in the windows and creche scenes and we experience the beauty of this season as we prepare to welcome our quest and celebrate the season of joy. It is indeed a season of joy and sometimes we get caught up in the hustle and bustle and don’t put enough into the meaning of Christmas and I think about t that creche and all of the ones’ people brought for a weekend, and how important they are to their families. It simply reminds us of the simplicity of Christmas and who we really celebrating, the Prince of Peace who we bring to our Christmas table! On behalf the entire staff of our three parishes, I wish you and your families a Blessed and Merry Christmas and thank all of you for what you do to share your gifts. Merry Christmas!
