Since the Catholic Church shares in the communion of the
saints, we are called to remember to carry out the beautiful spiritual
work of mercy to pray for the dead. To stress the importance of this
the Catholic Church sets a day aside each year to call us to stop
and together pray for the faithful departed, in particular for the souls
in Purgatory. This day is always on November 2nd, All Souls Day.
We are encouraged every day to pray for the souls who are still in
need of purification, as well as to offer many little sacrifices
throughout the day for them.

On All Souls Day priests are encouraged to offer three Masses that
day for the faithful departed, especially the souls in Purgatory. On
Monday, November 2nd we will have Masses at 8:00am (at Holy
Name of the Sacred Heart), 12:00pm (at St. Lawrence Church), and
6:30pm (at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart). The 6:30pm Mass will
also be the Mass at which we offer particular prayers for our
parishioners from St. Lawrence and Holy Name of the Sacred Heart
who died since last November 1st. That Mass is a beautiful
opportunity for us to come together to remember our brothers and
sisters in our parishes and pray for them by name.
