So, the morning of November 18th (the day we pass out Turkeys and all the fixings for families to enjoy on Thanksgiving) we only had 24 turkeys in our freezers. But suddenly along came two pick-up trucks full of turkeys! These were purchased by Colleen Kavanaugh, one of the developers of the old Holy Family High School. She had purchased 95 turkeys for our Pantry after hearing we did not have enough turkeys. Colleen and our very dedicated volunteers passed out ALL the turkeys and fixings and a few days supply of food. We gave out all the turkeys we had and then …
Friendly Sons of St. Patrick gave us 50 MORE turkeys. The Friendly Sons have been helping us for years! We gave out ALL the turkeys and those folks who were left received the gift cards YOU gave us, so they were able to go purchase their turkey. There’s still more…
On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, I received a call from Mrs. Serra, principal of the new St. Teresa of Calcutta School. They had food for us! We went and picked up a TON of food! There were bags and boxes of canned and packaged foods. Then I received another call. The 1972 Reunion Class of Holy Family High School collected food for our Food Pantry, and more bags of food were delivered thanks to Steve Maciel.
We are truly blessed!!!
Thank you, Colleen Kavanaugh, Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, St. Teresa of Calcutta School, and the 1972 Reunion Class of Holy Family High School and YOU!! It was a great Thanksgiving at the Food Pantry!
