As we have concluded the Christmas Season, I would like to just take a final opportunity to thank so many who made our Christmas Celebrations in our parishes so beautiful. To the many who made donations for Christmas flowers, please be assured your loved ones in whose memory they were donated were prayed for throughout the Christmas Season. To those who decorated our churches so beautifully, each in their own way, an outstanding job, and those who helped take and store them away. To Fr. Powell and Fr. Ferus, and Fr. Denault (who comes home during the Christmas season) for their assistance in celebrating the liturgies. To Deacons Sasseville and Ouellette, our servers, lectors, eucharistic ministers, collectors, bulletin passers, Thank You for your assistance each week. Attendance at Christmas Liturgies was very good, we saw over 1000 people in the two days of Christmas weekend. Finally, to all who sent cards and goodies and thoughtful gifts to Fr. Mike, Thank You for your kindness. We can breathe for about 5 1/2 weeks before the busy season of Lent begins.

I would like to express my thanks to the members of the New Bedford City Council for their recognition of St. Lawrence Parish with a citation for the 200th Anniversary of the Parish last year. Last Sunday after the 7:30 am Mass, City Councilor Naomi Carney gave me the citation jokingly admitting it was little late but very happy to do it. Fr. Mike read the citation with some very detailed history of St. Lawrence at the 11:30 am Mass at St. Lawrence last week. (Listen here.)

The citation is in the back of the church by the main door for your reading pleasure.

Have a great week! Fr. Mike
