A Message from Fr. Mike:
It is sad and perhaps one of the hardest things to do in ministry is to close a parish after so many years of being a part of God’s people. I want to share that this is one of the most difficult things to do as well as to leave and begin a new assignment as well. On Sunday June 22nd I will celebrate the Final Sunday Mass at St. Francis on the Feast of Corpus Christi – The Body and Blood of Christ.
On Friday evening August 15th at 6pm, The Feast of the Assumption, Bishop daCunha and myself will offer a Mass of Thanksgiving for the people of the Parish and to give thanks for the many blessings of 92 years of presence in the West End of New Bedford. Please share with those whom you may know that they are all invited to these liturgies. In the meantime, you are invited to remain a part of the Parishes of St. Lawrence and Holy Name of the Sacred Heart by calling either parish office to re-register as a parishioner and to know you are welcome to be part of the many ministries . Please know you are all in my prayers as we make this transition.
